Julián de Ajuria
Julián de Ajuria was born in Ubide (Bizkaia) in 1886 and emigrated to Argentina in 1906. Once there, he began working as a live narrator for silent films in Buenos Aires. He founded the Sociedad General Cinematográfica, a distribution company that introduced a system of renting film copies rather than selling them. He produced several feature films and became one of the most important film distributors in South America. Later, he turned his attention to buying and distributing films in Spain, becoming the first to introduce Paramount films through the Ajuria Programme initiative.
