On 28 September 1924, the unveiling of the monument in honour of the British soldiers who fell during the First Carlist War took place on Mount Urgull in San Sebastián.
The ceremony was attended by Queen Victoria Eugenia and Queen María Cristina. They were joined by the Prince of Asturias, Infante Don Jaime, the British Ambassador, Professor Sir Oman – a special envoy of the British Government and MP. Also present were the US Ambassador, the Spanish Ambassador to London – Alfonso Merry del Val – Governor-General Arzadun and the Mayor of the city – Mr Prado.

The images show how the people of San Sebastián were able to visit a British warship anchored in the bay and the monument’s unveiling ceremony.
